Explore the sights, sounds, food, and attractions of Las Vegas, Nevada with this Destenaire mini-guide of Vegas.

Las Vegas Entertainment

You probably already know that Las Vegas has a plethora of stuff to do. Gentlemen dress to impress, you may have a harder time getting into some clubs. If you avoid the weekend crowd on the Las Vegas Strip you can enjoy the same great venues with half the crowd, try visiting midweek if possible. Additionally, for the gamblers, minimum bets for table games are raised during peak times making a weekday visit a better choice.

As you would expect, Vegas offers a multitude of casinos and bars but also a local vibe, which draws the younger Vegas crowd.

Most locals, go to the Fremont Street area, it’s lovingly known as “Old Vegas” with a variety of bars, vintage signage, and shops.  The Downtown Project is revitalizing the area. It’s ever expanding with new features like “Container Park” which is a must see. Container Park is a cute shopping district made out of shipping containers. The area includes bars, restaurants, a seating area, night lighting, and an amazing adult sized playground in the center.

Shows

Sirens of Ti

According to Las Vegas Sun, Sirens of Ti has been cancelled after 10 years on the Strip.

It’s Vegas so see a show, there are plenty of Big Names in Vegas. Smaller shows may not get all the publicity but still offer great entertainment value. Claire Sinclair’s Pin Up Calendar show is a prime example of a smaller show, hosted by the Stratosphere. It is a small classy affair circa 1940 or earlier. Zombie Burlesque is another small show in Vegas that is underrated but is worth the visit. The small shows generally cost less, are sometimes easier to get tickets to last minute, and you may even meet the performers for photos in the lobby at the end. Check with your hotel for show times. Generally hotels offer guests a discount or rewards for rides, shows, and gambling.

City Tours

Las Vegas has a few different tour options from Helicopter tours to Arizona’s Grand Canyon and back to hiking red rock. Check with your hotel concierge for recommendations.

Adventures or Outdoor Activities in or near Las Vegas

In Vegas entertainment is only limited by the sky, the depths of your pocket book, and how long you can stay awake. For the right price you can do just about anything. For the outdoorsy people, hiking Red Rocks and the Valley of fire are popular if you want a little exercise. If you are looking for the great outdoors in a leisurely stroll visit Lake Mead or the Hoover Dam.

Check with your hotel concierge for the best hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, orienteering, dance classes, boot camps, and even trapeze classes. Sometimes you can find deals online to get discounts up to 75% off for Las Vegas fitness classes. The trapeze class is a once in a lifetime experience. Most of these classes are off strip, but you will soar to new heights.
